What is Acid Etching Glass?
Do you want intricate designs and patterns, with different tones, and textures in your glass?
Using hydrofluoric acid we can etch your designs into your glass.
The areas of your glass that has been etched using the hydrofluoric acid will become more opaque and have a frosted appearance. We then use specialised glass polishing techniques and tools to create different shades for an even more intricate design.
If you want a design or logo etched into your glass with extreme levels of detail, enough to even be used as the coat of arms in Buckingham Palace…

Frequently Asked Questions
Acid etching is the use of corrosives (we use hydrofluoric acid) to create designs in glass. This is because the corrosive roughens up the surface of the glass and creates a frosted effect. The increased opacity in these areas are what creates the patterns in your glass.
Glass etching works because of the roughened up surface of the glass. This causes light rays to bounce off the glass in different directions, rather than pass straight through. This, in turn, increases the opacity of the glass and allows designs to be etched into the glass.
And by using special polishing techniques and tools, we are able to vary the shade of the glass and add more detail to your glass.
Depending on how your glass was originally etched, it may not be possible to change. For example, if the etching is on the very surface and not very deep — there are tools and techniques we can use to polish the original etching out of the glass.
Unfortunately, if the etching is deeper we cannot remove it.
However, we can create a newly etched piece of glass that’ll be the exact shape and dimension of your original glass.
Use any glass cleaner and fabric or cloth, and clean as you would clean any other glass.
